Soil Health Management Composting: Farmers add decomposed plant and animal waste to build nutrient-rich soil structure. Cover cropping: Off-season crops like clover or rye prevent erosion and add nitrogen back into the earth. Green manuring: Growing specific plants to plow directly back into the ground to increase organic matter. Natural Pest and Weed Control Biological control: Releasing helpful predators like ladybugs or beneficial nematodes to eat harmful insects. Crop rotation: Changing the location of specific crops each season to break pest life cycles and stop soil depletion. Mulching: Covering bare ground with straw or leaves to block weeds and keep moisture trapped in the dirt.
